Deitzler Foundation Donates to The Amputee Center

With a $5,000 contribution, Deitzler Foundation joined the state and local government providing financial support to the limb loss community through funding for the non-profit Amputee Center at Parkersburg.

Harry and Kathe Deitzler met members of the limb loss community Tuesday night at the monthly Amputee Support Group meeting, better known as The Prosthetic Users Group.  The Deitzlers presented their donation of $5,000 to The Amputee Center and were met with enthusiastic applause.

Harry Deitzler explained that after working with many people who have suffered though the trauma of an amputation, he has an increased appreciation that there is much more to living with an amputation beyond physical healing and learning to walk or adapt to life again.  Deitzler said, “As a charitable foundation, we believe that it is very important help the Amputee Center team provide our community with its holistic approach to living with limb loss, including the emotional, social, and physical activity components.”

Amputee Center director Nancy Miller added, “If you have limb loss, or are considering an amputation, you are invited to join us the 2nd Tuesday of the month at 6:30 pm at The Amputee Center.  Family and friends are also welcome and encouraged to attend.”

The Amputee Center is the first non-profit in the nation to have a physical location for amputees to meet, exercise, find emotional support and access to resources.  This new 501(c)(3) non-profit is located in the plaza near the Belpre Toll Bridge at 2311 Ohio Ave Ste B, Parkersburg, WV 26101.
